I am Barbara Bray, director and founder of Alo Solutions Limited. I completed a BSc (Hons) Food Technology (University of Reading) followed by an in MSc Postharvest Technology (Cranfield University) and worked in the NGO sector and export agriculture in Uganda for 3 years before joining the international chilled foods business, Bakkavor on the Accelerated Management Programme.
A lead auditor with experience of supplier auditing in Europe, Middle East and African countries, I worked to resolve various technical issues to ensure compliance with customer and legal requirements. During my time in the food industry I have provided customer facing technical assistance on M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrison’s and Co-op accounts as a technical manager at the Bakkavor Group. I have delivered projects that have introduced innovation into the product range, improved quality within the supply chain, updated technical standards and implemented systems conforming to new customer standards. In addition I spent 5 years auditing the Bakkavor supply chain (a mix of high and low risk businesses) including fresh produce growers to the M&S Field to Fork standard.
Alo Solutions was set up in 2014 after Barbara completed an MSc in Human Nutrition. With a network of colleagues from the food industry, academia and the nutrition world to draw on, resources from food safety consultants, auditors, post-doctorate researchers, food safety trainers and consultant nutritionists are available whenever required.
